How it works
Beer runs through a long stainless steel coil sitting in ice water. The long coil gives the beer time to chill, so it pours at 36–38°F — the perfect beer temperature — even when the keg is at room temperature. Perfect for picnics, BBQs and tailgates.
Jockey box tips
- Keep the ice/water bath at 32–33°F.
- The coil must be completely submerged — exposed coil means foamy beer.
- Always use cubed ice; crushed ice melts too fast.
- At room temperature, run 30–35 psi.
A hand-pumped tap for a commercial keg — simple and cheap for a backyard party. Add a keg tub to keep it on ice.
